Author: Raphael Antebi. The melodic progression of this Piyyut consists of two sections, joined by a shorter passage. The first section contains the first two strophes. The shorter passage is sung in the third strophe, which is shorter than the others (only four verses). The second section contains the fourth and fifth strophes. Since the different strophes have different numbers of verses, the musical sections and the melodic progressions also vary in length. In the first section, the lahan consists of the solo singer's improvisations on the first word of the strophe. After this, the congregation sings a lahan consisting of five musical units (a-b-c-d-e); in the first strophe these do not correspond to the seven verses, but in the second strophe the five musical units do correspond to the five verses of the strophe. The short intermediate passage includes two musical units corresponding to the strophe's two verses. The second unit is longer, and contains a cadential motif. The second section of the piyyut includes improvisatory progressions by the solo singers, and metrical responses from the congregation. The soloists improvise on the syllable hai. Melodic structure of the fourth strophe: improv.-f-g-g'-g"-improv.-f-g-g'-g". Melodic structure of the fifth strophe: c-d-e-improve.-f-g-g'-g"-improve.
