Adonay Eloheinu, Lekah Tov Natan Lanu
A piyut with the acrostic "David Abihtzera". The poem consists of quatrains with the rhyme pattern aaax, bbbx, where the "x" always ends on a paraphrase of a Biblical verse ending on the word "tov". The piyut is performed in a chorus with percussion accompaniment. It is based on a short recurring melodic motif with soloists singing alternately the first verse of each stanza. The arrangement moves between the traditional unison singing and a polyphonic adventure that changes the contour of the original melody (brought in no. 10). This melodic diversity also involves a change of mode, from minor (a kind of maqam hijaz with an augmenet second of a tone and one quarter, in which the second degree is lowered by a quarter of a tone) to major.
