Shofet Kol Ha'aretz

A piyyut for High Holy Days

Shofet kol ha’aretz, a central liturgical poem associated with the High Holy Days in Jewish tradition. The recordings in this playlist are drawn from three Song of the Month articles published on our website and reflect both the historical breadth of the poem’s practice and its Ashkenazi, Moroccan, and Yemenite performance traditions. For further discussion of its history, performance, and reception, see the SOM September 2014the SOM January 2016, and the SOM June 2018: A centerpiece of the High Holydays liturgy: Shofet Kol Ha'aretz in Moroccan and Yemenite versions.
