Aromemekha, Odeh Shemekha

A song praising tzaddiqim and their hillulot, pairing R. Yaacov with the two holy men most venerated by Moroccan Jews, Rabbi Simeom bar Yochai and the enigmatic Rabbi Meir Ba'al Hanes. The text mentions their respective celebrations on Lag Baomer, in the tomb of R. Simeon bar Yochai in Meron, Upper Galilee and on the "second Passover" in the tomb of R. Meir Ba'al Hanes near Tiberias. The choral a capella and percussion arrangement recreates the ecstatic experience of the pilgrims to the holy sites through a series of spontaneous modulations and faster tempi.
