15. Melody for "Ke-Vaqqarat Ro'eh 'Edro

This niggun, originally a niggun without words, is part of the repertoire of the Sanz dynasty and its offshoots Bobov and Kloyzenberg. The Rebbe of K.loyzenberg sings it on the Sabbath, at Se'udah shelishit (literally "the third meal," that is, the Sabbath meal held after the Afternoon Service), to the words of "Mizmor le-David" (Psalms 23). Bobov Hasidim sing it on the Day of Atonement, after "Kol Nidrei," to the verse "Ve­nislah..." = "The whole Israelite community and the stranger residing among them shall be forgiven" (Num. 15:26). When Alexander Uri led the congregation in High Holyday prayers, he used to sing it to the words "Ke-vaqqarat ro'eh 'edro..." from the "U­ netanneh toqef" prayer (Additional Service for New Year), observing the custom of Hungarian Jews from the Marmaros county. In this recording Uri and his sons sing the niggun without words.
