Rodan was born in Yassi, Romania. He studied violin and conducting at the Bucharest Academy of Music (1945-1949) and later worked as a conductor. He left Romania in 1961 and settled in Israel. Rodan conducted various orchestras in Israel, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra; the Be'er Sheba Orchestra, which he also directed (1963-1972); the Israel Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, where he introduced new Israeli works; and several orchestras abroad. In addition to conducting, Rodan headed the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (1984-1993). According to William Y. Elias, 'as a conductor he inclines towards post-Romantic and less extreme contemporary music.[1]
