2. Harvest Time and Tabernacles

Sung by Ruth Freed

This song is about the holiday of Sukkot. Since Sukkot commemorates the Biblical harvest season, the song connects the act of decorating the Sukkah (Tabernacle), a task usually reserved for the children in the family, to the produce and fruits of the land. Thus, the emphasis is not in the holiday's religious themes (such as the exodus from Egypt), but rather the specific fruits that presently grow in the land of Israel.
