Kol Nedarim (Turin)
The Italian Yom Kippur evening service opens with a Hebrew version of the well-known Aramic text Kol Nidre a solemn proclamation releasing the worshipers from all vows contracted throughout the previous year. The Hebrew redaction, considered more ancient than the Aramic, as it appears in Siddur Rav Amram, is often cited as proof of the antiquity of the Italian rite. This Torinese version presents archaic musical traits in its modal structure.
