Yodukha melekh (May they give thanks to Thee, O King)

Author: Mordecai Abadi (acrostic: Yosef Binyamin). The piece is in two sections. In the first section, which contains the first two strophes, the lahan is symmetrical and metrical. It consists of four musical units, corresponding to the four verses of the strophe. The first part of each section is performed by a solo singer, and the second part by the congregation. Melodic structure: a-a-a'-a. The second section (strophes 3-6) consists of five musical units. The first and third are performed by a solo singer, in a musical progression without a clear beat and in improvisatory style; the second, fourth and fifth units are performed by the congregation, and the musical progression is metrical.
