Haim Effendi

A special insertion to the first blessing in the cantor's repetition of the High Holidays' 'amidah, this paragraph ("Remember [judge] us to life, King who seeks life") is performed by Ottoman ḥazzanim with one of the most embellished solemn melodies of the whole Sephardi liturgical repertoire. The melody is nominally in makam Segâh, the mode of the entire repetition of the 'amidah.
