Judith Kaplan Eisenstein

American author, musicologist and composer. Born in New York, U.S.A. Studied at Columbia University, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and the Hebrew Union College. She later taught at both of these two institutions. Published studies in Jewish music, Jewish songbooks, and her own compositions. A daughter of Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, the founder of the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement and wife of Rabbi Ira Eisenstein, a close associate of R. Kaplan, Judith's musical activities were intimately connected to this modern movement of Judaism.
