Darius Milhaud

Darius Milhaud was a prolific French composer, conductor, and teacher, widely recognized as one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. Born to a Jewish family in Marseilles and raised in Aix-en-Provence, Milhaud was a member of the avant-garde group known as Les Six. He drew inspiration from diverse musical traditions, incorporating jazz, Brazilian rhythms, and polytonality into his works. He also explored the music of the Jewish community in Comtat Venaissin, reflecting his own heritage in some of his compositions. His vast body of work spans various genres, including symphonies, operas, and chamber music.
