"Qiryia Yefefiyah" (Lovely city)

Written by Zacharia Al-Dahri

Performed by Baruch Yefet

Nashid by Zacharia Al-Dahri. It expresses yearning for Jerusalem (Seri-Tobi: 120). It was undoubtedly inspired by Yehuda Halevi's poem Yefe Nof. The poetry of the Jews of Yemen and other Eastern communities frequently imitated that of Jewish-Spanish poetry.

4. Zadok Zubeiri sings this song in the melody regularly used for Qiryia yefefi'ah, the poem is fast and rhythmic, and accompanied by a drum. Here, he sings three stanzas of the poem.

5. Baruch Yefet sings the first three stanzas to the most popular melody, and from the fourth onwards to another, rhythmic melody, accompanying himself with a drum. He sings a selection of texts from the following verses, and to conclude he repeats the first verse to the first melody.
