No paséis porla mi puerta

Amelie Piha (Fethiye)

A serial song based on a dialogue between a young man’s or young woman’s overprotective mother and his or her persistent suitor. Part of the strophe changes with each iteration, according to the required rhyme: “Do not pass by my door (my patio, my living room, my kitchen) for I have a lovely (beautiful, etc.) son (or daughter). / If you have a lovely (beautiful, etc.) son (or daughter), give him (her) to me as a husband (as a wife, as a friend, as a lover) and I will pass by.” Refrain: “I will pass by and I will return and I will speak and I will say that the road is not yours, it belongs to the king.”
