Friday Night After the Meal

Friday night, oh, after the meal
While their parents go out strolling,
The young women sit on their beds
With their beaus.

Everyone sits on their beds
And they kiss and pet,
And smooch and twist –
Such a young couple.

And oh, and oh, and oh-oh-oh!
Rest and joy and light unto the Jews,
And the holy Sabbath day, day of delights.
And oh, oh, and oh-oh-oh!
And after the prune tsimmes
Ah! Believe me,it’s not at all unpleasant.
The lights go out –
Believe me, it’s not bad at all.

The whole week, the Jew works hard.
When the holy Sabbath arrives,
He sings to himself this little song.

And first the members of the household take seats,
The wife spruces up the house for him.
And she serves him at the table
A roll and fish.

And oh…
