Pianist, conductor and composer. Born in Lawerence, Mass. Diverse musician and was well known in the U.S. and abroad in many musical fields: as conductor (NY Philharmonic orchestra, and many others), composer, pianist and television personality (making a series of televised lectures about music).
Many biographies have been written about Leonard Bernstein (three can be found below) about different aspects of his life. The aspects which connect him to Jewish music are his compositions on Jewish themes (the oratorio Kaddish, Jeremiah Symphony etc), and his close connection with Israel (conducting in Israel on many occasions, and participating in various musical activities).
