In 1983, Joel Silberg released another sequel more loosely based on Goldfaden's Tsvey Kuni Lemel, titled Kuni Leml B'Kahir (Kuni Lemel in Cairo). Mike Burstyn plays both twins in this musical comedy about a trip to Egypt. The pair are given the important task of bringing a Torah to a Jewish community in Cairo. In return, they are given a set of ancient coins to return to Israel. With Kuni Lemel involved, the mission inevitably goes awry. Kuni Lemel in Cairo is historically significant as the first Israeli film permitted to shoot in Egypt.
