Avadim Hayinu - Schiavi Fummo (Ancona)

A portion of the Passover Haggadah chanted in Hebrew and Italian, in the recitation mode for the reading of the Mishnah in the Italian Ancona tradition.

Sciavi fummo a Faraone in Egitto, e di la ci trasse il Signore Dio nostro con mano forte e con braccio disteso. E se non avesse tratto il Santo Benedetto i nostri padri dall'Egitto, ancora noi, i nostri figli e i figli dei nostri figli schiavi saremmo a Faraone in Egitto. E se anche tutti noi fossimo saggi, intelligenti e instruiti nella Legge, avremmo l'obbligo di ragionare sull'Uscita dall'Egitto, perche chi piu ragiona sull'Uscita dall'Egitto merita lode. 

We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, and the Lord our God brought us forth from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. And if the holy One, blessed be He, had not brought our fathers forth from Egypt, then we, and our children, and our children's children, would still be enslaved to Pharaoh in Egypt. And so, even if all of us were full of wisdom, understanding and deeply versed in the Torah, we would still be bidden to dwell upon the Exodus, for he who most dwells upon the Exodus deserves grace.
