Acrostic "Ani Itzhak" Abuhatzira. Consists of strophes built of two-hemistich verses in an ab ab ab x pattern, where the word 'Yerushalayim' (Jerusalem) makes the last verse of each strophe. An intensively messianic song of longing for the restitution of Jerusalem and its Temple. The song has two distinctive elements: the first three verses of each strophes are responsorial, in a syllabic-rhythmic style based on a short narrow-range motive; the last verse, sung by the soloist, has a more florid texture, a wider range and no clear beat. The choir then repeats the entire last verse in the opening syllabic-rhythmic style.
