Nashid by Zacharia Al-Dahri. It expresses yearning for Jerusalem (Seri-Tobi: 120). It was undoubtedly inspired by Yehuda Halevi's poem Yefe Nof. The poetry of the Jews of Yemen and other Eastern communities frequently imitated that of Jewish-Spanish poetry. This song is popular with the non-Yemenite Israeli public; Israeli researcher, performers and composers such as Menashe Ravina, Yehazke'el Braun and Hanoch Avenari transcribed its melodies. It has been arranged for choir by Zvi Snunit, Theodor Holdheim and the Efroni Choir (Bahat, 1995: 178).
Zadok Zubeiri sings this song in the melody regularly used for Qiryia yefefi'ah, sung in a slow flowing rhythm. Here, he sings both stanzas of the poem.
