23. Laner velivsamim nafshi meyaḥla (My heart longs for the candle and the incense)

Nashid for Havdala (ceremony for the ending of the Sabbath) by Se'adia, signed Lese'adia. It is a prayer for livelihood in the coming week. The song is popular with the Israeli public, and has often been arranged and recorded. Bracha Zefira sang and recorded it in an arrangement by Oedoen Partos, accompanied by a string quartet (Bahat, 1995: 91). Since then it has been sung by many singera, male and female, not only in its traditional setting at the conclusion of the Sabbath.

Zadok Zubeiri sings several of the melodies of this song: the first two verses are sung to the first melody, with no percussion accompaniment; in the third verse the melody changes, and is accompanied by a tin pan; in the fourth verse a slow melody in flexible rhythm is heard, which continues rhythmically until the final verse, when it becomes slow once again.
