Nashid by Yosef ben Israel signed Yehosef. The poem calls for the Lord to take vengeance on the enemies of His people.
This recording features Menachem Arussi sings a different melody, freer and more melismatic, with a declarative character. This is an example of the ways in which traditions are handed down within several generations. Here, the soloist, who is the authoritative master, has a prominent role in comparison with the part of the ensemble, which responds to him. He sings only the first and last verses, since in this performance the nashid serves as an introduction to the shira (Bahat, 1995: 174-5).
