The term 'musiqah' entered Jewish literature through the Arab cultural contact. One hundred and twelve quotations are located, in Hebrew or Judeo-Arabic (Arabic in Hebrew characters) works. Presently inaccessible manuscripts will certainly increase the number, but an evaluation is already possible. The distribution is analysed chronologically, linguistically, geographically, and by spread, pronunciation and spelling.
