Netanel Cohen (Musai)

A scholar specializing in Jewish music, with a particular emphasis on the liturgical and piyyut traditions of Eastern Jewish communities. He holds a PhD in Musicology from the Hebrew University, where his dissertation, under the supervision of Professor Edwin Seroussi, explored the liturgical music of Baghdadi Jews in Israel. His research focused on the musical stereotypes that have emerged in relation to this tradition and the processes of musical boundary-making they have engendered. Currently, he serves as the music curator for "The Piyyut and Prayer website" ("An Invitation to Piyut") .
