Born in Warsaw, Poland, immigrated to Israel in 1969, and studied at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music. In 1977, he moved to the U.S. and studied at Yale University where he was a student of Krzystof Penderecki and received his PhD in 1984. His awards include two ASCAP Standard Awards (1989, 1997) and the Mellon Fellowship (1985). According to Yuval Shaked,[1] Radzynski's compositions merge musical elements of the Jewish Eastern European cantorate, Middle Eastern heterophony, and contemporary Western technique, while retaining a commitment to the great western composers of the past.
