Yael Shai studied PhD studies at Bar-Ilan University. The topic of the doctoral thesis: the processes of change in the traditional musical repertoire of the wedding among the Jews of Khaban, Yemen.
In 2001 Dr. Yael Shai was appointed as the chief supervisor of music education at the Ministry of Education.
