The image above is the title page of Goldfaden's operetta Doktor Almasada: oder Di Yuden in Palermo (Dr. Almasada, or the Jews in Palermo), published in Warsaw in 1887. Goldfaden's historical-drama is based on historical events of the 14th century C.E. The play was written in 1882, shortly after the assassination of Tsar Alexander II.
